Nebraska defensive tackle Jared Crick has announced his intention to return to school for the 2011 season.

"I am staying at the University of Nebraska to finish my degree and complete my final season of eligibility on the football field," Crick said. "Playing at Nebraska for Coach Pelini is a great opportunity, and I am looking forward to continuing that in 2011. Hopefully, I will have the chance to play at the professional level in the future, but my focus right now is on the start of the semester and beginning winter conditioning next week."

Very Sweet!
it makes me feel a ton better about the switch to the Big 10.  Now if we can only get an offensive identity we'll be set.
Glad to hear he's staying
That is good news, now if we can get some more lineman and line backers Huskers may have a strong defense again.
Mike do you ever have anything nice to say about the Huskers? Since Pelini's return, the Huskers have had one of the top defenses in the nation!
Yes the defense has improved under Pelini, but did the Huskers win the big 12 championship, did the Huskers make it to a BCS bowl, did the Huskers win the Holiday bowl.(no). Pelini still has a lot of things to fix.
It will be interesting to see next years team. Our Defensive line should be the strength of our team as we lost quite a few defensive backs. Still, I doubt we will ever have a bad defensive backfield and we still have lots of talent back there. Linebackers should also improve. For the second straight year our offense should improve, although that isn't saying much. Special teams may be a major concern for next year. Overall, my way too early prediction would be 4 losses. It could be more and it could be less. Although 4 losses isn't bad, it definitely isn't what fans want to see. I predict Pelini to get lots of heat from fans and although he is no threat to lose his job under Osborne he will finally get rid of Watson. This will excite fans. However, his next hire will tell us a lot. I have doubts the new OC will be much of a wizard and I wouldn't be surprised to simply see a promotion, though I hope that's not the case. I do not believe we are all that close to winning a national Championship, although we are at a level where we can compete with any team. I believe next year will be a very interesting year and will tell us a lot. Can't wait.
I think you're right on about a new OC not being much of a wizard.  Bo said once, that he wants a smash mouth running offense.  I'd imagine a new OC would be a dominate the line, smash it down their throat running and control the clock kind of guy.  That would suit this Defense well.  I could see him promoting Cotton.  He was the OC under Solich for his last horrah.  Not sure I like the idea, but I could see it happening.  To bad Bo doesn't have an evil twin somewhere that is as much a Offensive god as Bo is to defense.

The bad news is Heard will not.

With DRob leaving and Helu gone, we'll be seeing alot of true freshman Aaron Green on the field next year.  No doubt about it!

Heard's quest continues

Touted running back Braylon Heard's long-running quest to become academically eligible apparently continues.

Classes resumed at Nebraska Wednesday, but Heard isn't on campus.

A signee in Nebraska's 2010 recruiting class, Heard received word this week from Nebraska and the NCAA that he's one point short on his total ACT sum score, reported.

Heard, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder from Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown, Ohio, apparently will take the ACT again this spring.

Heard rushed for 1,973 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2009 as a senior at Cardinal Mooney, Bo and Carl Pelini's alma mater. He helped the team to a 15-0 record.

Heard was rated as a four-star prospect.

yeah Cotton did okay as oc for Solich, he is not doing that great as o line coach, do you think he could handle being a head coach?
I haven't seen anything that would make me think that.
